Hinda Rosenbaum, the Director of the Ruth and Lewis Davis Religious School of Congregation Shaarei Kodesh, has a B.A. in Education/Anthropology and over 28 years experience in education and business management. As a teenager, she made “aliyah” to Israel with her family and completed the Israeli high school “Bagrut” matriculation, then returned to the United States to continue her studies. While working in the business world, she has been a successful manager for two companies and was directly responsible for maintaining, organizing, and implementing all facets of their operations.
Mrs. Rosenbaum has applied her devotion to education with her experience in religious school and preschool teaching. She worked with the Jewish Education Commission of South Palm Beach County in the Teacher’s Resource Center. Mrs. Rosenbaum has a long connection with Ramah Camps. She was a Hebrew teacher and ran the Teacher’s Resource Center for two summers at Ramah Palmer. For eleven summers, Mrs. Rosenbaum interacted with the campers and staff at Camp Ramah Darom as the Infirmary Administrator. Mrs. Rosenbaum is a graduate of the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School and most recently came back from Israel after participating in the “Seminar for Jewish Community Leaders and Teachers” offered through the Mofet Institute in Tel Aviv.
With her connection already established with students and parents, Mrs. Rosenbaum will use this basis as a step to expand our already successful curriculum. While continuing to focus on Holidays, Torah, Prayer, Israel and Jewish Values, we also add to our Hebrew language classes with a Hebrew Key-Word Recognition Program. Key Hebrew vocabulary words are used consistently in all classes. Children learn Hebrew words and incorporate them into their classroom activities without even realizing it! Further enhancement of the religious school experience are done with special programs such as Gatherings in the Succah, Hanukah Parties, Tu b’shvat Seders, Passover Family Projects, and Israel Independence Day Celebrations.
As Director, Mrs. Rosenbaum continues to guide the Ruth and Lewis Davis Religious School in providing a professional, safe, fun, and nurturing environment for our students. Please feel free to contact her at 561.716.8788 with any questions.
Meredith Pressler (aka: Morah Miriam) has been a Jewish educator for seven years. She graduated Florida Atlantic University with a B.A. in Judaic Studies and Performing Arts. Morah Miriam has been SATO (Social Action/ Tikkun Olam) Vice President of USY (2000 & 2001), and was chosen as USYer of the year in 1999 & 2000. She was on the FAU Hillel board as co-president (2004), and was a volunteer for over 7 years at her childhood synagogue. Morah Miriam completed the two-year Florence Melton Institute program as well as the JNF TEVA training and was chosen as a JNF Ambassador for 2009. JNF asked her to be part of their program again in 2010 and also in 2011 during which she will continue to represent our school and bring innovative programs and materials to her classes. Morah Miriam offers an exciting approach in the classroom. She utilizes the Jewish Web online bringing the students into the Jewish digital world and incorporating it into her lessons along with traditional learning methods. As a teacher with our school for the past two years, Morah Miriam has proven herself a valuable resource.
Lori Beth Blum (aka:Morah Lori) grew up in Boca Raton and received a BA in Elementary Education with a Minor in Judaic Studies from FAU. She attended Donna Klein Jewish Academy and Spanish River High School, where she was a Pathfinder finalist in Educational Development. Her own experience as an officer in Kadima and USY led to her several years as a Bonim, Kadima and USY advisor. Since the age of 12, when Morah Lori assisted in Jewish pre-school settings, she has been involved in Jewish education. For the past six years she has been a lead teacher in local early childhood programs. She also has taught in Religious School programs on all grade levels. In addition to her formal classroom teaching experience, Morah Lori has innovated and implemented curriculum for both secular and Judaic studies programs. She introduced many new concepts and activities. She is a hands-on teacher who offers unique and fun classroom experience including cooking, family programming, her original “Ma La A’sot” (what should I do?), and the “much loved by students” weekly Sedra scene activity. In her previous teaching positions, parents have requested that Lori move up a grade in religious school so that their children may continue to have her as a teacher. Some CSK parents may recognize Lori from her babysitting duties on Shabbat mornings. Morah Lori is looking forward to and is very excited to be joining our teaching staff.
