Curriculum and Programming Overview

The Religious School of Shaarei Kodesh provides an excellent Jewish educational experience in a professional, caring, fun and safe environment. We are excited to offer a Religious School curriculum that is based upon cutting edge programming. Our knowledgeable teachers value personal interactions with our students utilizing various methodologies, strategies and classroom management skills; a combination that brings successful learning and fun to the classroom. Our staff guides students in the use of digital Hebrew programs, the best of Israel on the Web, and online Jewish Holiday and Values discovery. Teachers coordinate books, pamphlets, activity sheets and cooperative projects with components that students view online. Students utilize computers, in school and at their homes to help strengthen the home-school partnership.

In addition to the specific grade level curriculum outlined below, our entire school will be focused on using a “Hebrew Word Recognition Program”.  Students will absorb Hebrew by hearing and speaking various key words and phrases used by the teachers in class. Children will learn Hebrew words and incorporate them into their classroom activities without even realizing it!

Did you know that Shaarei Kodesh is one of only twenty synagogues in the USA that was selected to have an educator become a JNF (Jewish National Fund) Ambassador? Our very own Meredith Pressler trained at the 4-day Teva seminar which concentrated on many aspects of the land of Israel including learning about “sustainable resources”, “Going Green”, and the special wonders of our Jewish homeland. Each grade level spends time during class learning about Israel. Special projects will be presented as the year unfolds.

Throughout the year, we will hold special school-wide programs and celebrations such as fun in the Succah, a Hanukah party, a Tu’bshvat seder, and our Passover Family Project. We look forward to a wonderful year!
